Welcome to the blog, and to Curious Raven Press, which is really just a very official-sounding name for me, sitting at my desk, figuring this out as I go.
I'll use this space to share updates: release news, writing schedules, editing progress, the occasional note about a chapter that refuses to cooperate. Nothing too complicated. Just a place to keep you in the loop on what's happening with What the Storm Kept and everything that comes after it.
So. Why a book?
I've been creative my whole life. I work in design and web development, I've illustrated comic books and graphic novels, made art, and dabbled in creative writing. What I had never done, until now, was actually sit down and write a whole novel.
I've also been a reader for as long as I can remember. My library is, genuinely, an astonishing drain on my finances, and I suspect most of you know exactly what I mean by that. There is no budget that has survived my bookshop.
For years I told myself I'd write a book someday. And then one day I thought, why not now? I have been telling myself stories in my own head my entire life. Characters I return to, plotlines that unspool while I'm supposed to be doing other things. It seemed like time to put some of my favourites down on paper so that you could enjoy them too.
That's how we got here. That's how Soul Blacktide got here.
